New York, NY – June 28, 2025 – Internationally acclaimed soprano Laura Ansaldi will make her highly anticipated Carnegie Hall debut on Saturday, June 28 at 1:00 PM as part of Sound Espressivo’s Laurette Gala, held at the prestigious Weill Recital Hall. This milestone marks a new chapter in Ansaldi’s distinguished global career and solidifies her place among the world’s leading opera voices.
Set in the heart of Manhattan, Carnegie Hall has stood as a landmark of musical excellence since 1891, hosting legendary artists from Tchaikovsky to The Beatles. Designed by William Burnet Tuthill and famously inaugurated with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s American debut, Carnegie Hall continues to symbolize the summit of artistic achievement. To perform here is a dream shared by generations of performers, and for Laura Ansaldi, that dream is now a reality.
Ansaldi joins an accomplished and dynamic lineup of worldwide talent for The Laurette Gala. The program features the 42-member New York Chamber Players Orchestra—conducted by renowned Italian maestro Giacomo Franci, celebrated for his interpretations of Aaron Copland and Igor Stravinsky—alongside 13 exceptional laureates, including pianists, a flutist, a guitarist, a mezzo-soprano, and a composer, representing a rich spectrum of musical disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
Performed by the acclaimed ensemble, known for its diverse and fresh approach, the evening promises technical brilliance and deep emotional impact—an unforgettable celebration of classical music’s evolving voice.
Ansaldi’s repertoire for the evening highlights her renowned vocal versatility:
• Handel: “Da tempeste” (from Giulio Cesare)
• Puccini: “Vissi d’arte” (from Tosca)
Reflecting on the contrasting styles in her repertoire, Ansaldi shares: "I wanted to perform two very contrasting arias, because versatility is one of the characteristics of my voice that allowed me to become a well-known opera singer. For coloratura, I have chosen this beautiful final aria from Giulio Cesare, one of my favourite operas and roles—Cleopatra. It is one of the rare operas with a happy ending, and this aria is so joyful. Vissi d’arte is one of my favourite Puccini arias: melodic, powerful, and so well known.”
As for what this moment signifies, Ansaldi continues:
"For sure, debuting at Carnegie is a big milestone in an artist’s career, and I am so thrilled about it. Also, I am very happy that this opportunity comes with Sound Espressivo's artistic direction, an entity that promotes excellence in music at an international level. I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful journey.”
